Surviving among the cluster bombs of civilization, we have often surmised about our bizarre world as the same, absurd continuum from the beginning of time.

We cannot imagine our preposterous world without its job searches, employment hustles, apartments for rent, bank payment loans, security deposits, credit policies, police forces, prisons, schools, corporations, institutions, hospitals, houses of worship, advertising billboards, street scams, mafia-gang syndicates, criminal sprees, warfare and bombings, propaganda methods, State social control – and all the other criminal vices that plague and pester our everyday lives.

Within the sinister realm of ideologies, our modern world has seen the tumorous growth of outlandish ideological sects that have not only seized the modern State, but have also entered the realms of accepted science and common sense. Some ideological cabals have even taken the reins of social control through subtle hegemonic-state alliances over a short span of time. There are many such strange and nefarious stories from the darkened and hidden annals of human history.

The human mind, or the human brain, has represented one of the most mysterious areas for human research, and at the same time, one of the most desired regions for studying the evil arts of human social control. This explains the nauseating repetition of crap advertising and state-corporate propaganda, or ‘the news,’ found on most radio programs, television screens, and even when we click on to certain websites on our laptops.

Before there existed corporate media outlets under the direction of the political-economic elites, there were other proven methods in the discernment of mental operations. Those ancient methods considered the images, forms, inclusive of symbols, or languages, which seemed to constantly invade the human brain, meaning the intersecting lines and tapes of ego-centric, fantastic, conscious thoughts.

Some ancient religious ideologies preferred to tame the human brain and life actions through the methods of ethical self-systems, such as Confucianism, Jainism, Torah-Legalistic Judaism, Zoroastrianism, African Traditional Religions, Epicureanism, Daoism,  Sikhism and Stoicism. Other religious practices preferred to discipline the mind through the experiences of spiritual transcendence, such as Hinduism, Neo-Platonism, Pythagorean Religion, Neo-Egyptian Religion, Gnosticism, Christian Mysticism, Jewish Kabbala, and African Diaspora Religions. Only one religion was successful in combining both of these methods: Buddhism.

Buddhism denies the existence of the ego-self-soul-spirit bodies, and yet it allows for the Hindu belief in reincarnation-rebirth. It negates the complete idea of a controlling deity over human life, yet it also accepts the influence of malevolent spirits-illusions that infect our minds. Buddhism developed the only comprehensive, ancient method, or practice, in disciplining the human mind.

This mental discipline first emphasizes that we understand a simple truth: our thoughts are mental illusions, which create continual suffering in our lives, since our physical bodies also grow into old age, sickness and death. The second part of the method encourages the middle path of ethical behavior in avoidance of bad karma, or actions, words and thoughts, while engaging our will, or self-discipline, to meditate, or concentrate as much as possible, on our living actuality, such as breathing, walking, lying down, and other common life activities.

The spiritual method requires great self-discipline for the personal conquest of the monkey mind. This is the reason that Siddhartha Gautama, or the Buddha, formed the ‘sangha,’ or the monk practitioners of Buddhism with their shaved heads, brown, crimson, yellow robes, begging canisters and sandals.

About a thousand years later however, another religious mystic would create an even greater method for mind control, and in another sense, he became the first practitioner of modern psychobabble-psychology – although crap history leaves him out of the psycho history lesson.

His name was Iñigo de Loyola. He was a Spanish knight of the lower Basque nobility. In the early 1520s, after a momentous battle against the French in Pamplona, he severely injured his leg during the combat. While bedridden and under severe pain, he almost died from profuse bleeding. He managed to recover, and later began to read books on the heroic lives of the Saints.

How did the Saints manage to go so many days without eating and yet keep their composure, and how did they maintain their dignity and peace of mind even when under physical punishments, mental torments, or the duress of prison? Loyola ultimately got out of bed, but walked with a limp for the rest of his life. He could no longer live as a knight, so he imitated the heroic walks of the Saints.

He gave up his weapons and fine clothes at a shrine across his route in northern Spain, and then wandered barefoot, limping with a staff, and wore a coarse cloak with relic pieces and crosses, only carrying a dirty leather bag to help him along the way. Through this hard journey, during the 1520’s, he began to keep a rough journal.

This journal would later become his famous Spiritual Exercises during the 1530s when he began his university studies to become a priest. By the 1540s, he already had a group of devotees educated in the method of the Exercises. What was inside those exercises that made them so powerful?

The Spiritual Exercises were the first, modern psychotherapy self-help manuals in disciplining the mind. Through his complete change and turnaround, from killing off his old Spanish Knight self, and remaking himself into a Catholic Saint, he attained something that only a human animal could create: the death of the old self into a resurrected new, transformed other – all through simple mind exercises.

A priest who has already inducted himself into the Exercises leads the adept through the four to five-week process. First, the acolyte has to examine his or her life to find the faults, weaknesses or sins, which have kept the person from attaining true spiritual power, or mental freedom and peace.

After confessing and acknowledging one’s sins, and next, actively changing his or her habits in transforming the vices into virtues, the devotee later experiences the life of Christ, and especially his Passion on the Cross through understanding the hard process of personal, mind transformation.

The spiritual adviser or priest leads the adherent through controlled breath work, visualizations, vocal, repetitive prayers, and then participation in the Mass. After each session, he or she feels energized and more transformed, while the follower truly feels the power in belonging to the militant body of Christ. The most important part comes at the end of the session, where the votary learns the discernment of spirits.

The discernment of spirits implies understanding the thoughts, ideas, feelings, experiences, images and beliefs that come into his or her mind. Thoughts of doubt, laziness, sensual pleasure, guilt or nervousness represent demonic attacks, and they are let go, while thoughts or images that bring peace, spiritual rapture and joy come from the Holy Spirit. Once the adept successfully finishes the Exercises, he or she transforms into the disciplined believer-warrior. The worshiper has assumed control over his or her own ‘spiritual mind.’

The Order of Loyola, or the Company of Jesus, was also an authoritarian, military like Company under the direction of the Jesuit General. This mental practice was for the ‘greater glory of God,’ or really, the glory of the Catholic Church. Loyola wanted fanatical believers to defend the Church against the dangers of Protestant heresy, or against any non-Catholic belief systems across the globe.

Less than fifty years after the founding of the Company of Jesus, or the Jesuits, they had controlled most of the Catholic Universities in Europe. They also became the confessors to Catholic monarchs, built Catholic Schools across Europe and the American Continent, and had sent missionaries across the Earth in order to convert the heathens, while the Religious Wars had taken off across Europe. This religious order even became one of the wealthiest religious corporations in human history.

Modern Psychology, or Psychobabble, has used the same methods in recent history. ‘Social Workers’ have manipulated public opinion through the US corporate media, talk TV reality shows, such as ‘Dr. Phil’ and ‘Intervention.’ Psychologists have made strategic alliances with the State through the power of illegally imprisoning, ‘dangerous’ people, while holding full legal powers in giving testimonies in courts of law.

Psychiatrists have gained nefarious profits through their bogus psycho therapy sessions, murderous psycho surgeries and their legal rights in dealing brutal, psychoactive drugs to the unwilling. Psychology has become a respected area of scientific study in universities across the globe.

Since modern psychology’s founding, under the German physiologist Wilhelm Wundt during the late nineteenth-century, this ideology has dedicated itself to controlling and manipulating the human mind. Since its inception, it has been responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths across Europe and North America.

This ideology-pseudo science has mostly annihilated its victims through committing society’s weaker populations into asylums, mental hospitals and sanitariums. . The list of victims has included the autistic, the delusional-imaginative, the outspoken-rebellious, the open homosexuals, the excessively weird, the overly sensitive, the mentally deficient, the anorexic, the obsessive-compulsive, or the artistically strange.

Through its spurious research in ‘experimental’ behaviors, and crimes of staff brutality, neglect, restraints, tortures, psycho surgeries, and forced drugging of lethal pharmaceuticals, this ideological-institution has destroyed millions of lives.

Due to its powers as a respected science of social control, governments, militaries, police forces, corporations, schools and other dictatorial institutions across the societal spectrum, have used psychology as one of their preferred methods in dominance and destruction over others.

A short list of psychobabble’s historical crimes should suffice. The ideology and institution of Psychology collaborated with the Nazi Regime’s mass murder of mentally deficient people in the 1930s. Due to their sinister success in this psycho-operation, the Nazis went after Jews, Gypsies and other hated social groups during the 1940s.

The psychobabble pseudo science used the surgery-torture of lobotomies on outspoken-rebellious individuals from the 1930s-70s, such as Rosemary Kennedy, the actress Frances Farmer, the musician Josef Hassid, the painter Sigrid Hjerten, and thousands of other homosexuals, artists, non-conformists and other imaginative dreamers that seemed too weird. Most of the victims of lobotomies either died soon after or survived as incapacitated blobs.

In the 1970s, with lobotomies exposed as a form of torture and murder, and yet none of the ‘psycho doctors’ doing any prison time, psychobabble went on the offensive with its APA organization, the American Psychological Association, the Vatican of Psycho quackery.

Each successive year, this organization’s bible, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, seems to grow exponentially. Even a nervous tic could put one on the list of disorders, and often the same psycho babble experts have suffered from the same neuroses. These ‘experts’ even had ‘homosexuality’ listed as one of the diseases to cure.

The Psycho mob soon made important ties with the federal, state and municipal governments in the United States, giving quacks full legal rights in stating court testimony and holding the legal rights to commit people involuntarily. Psychology had trumped the Bill of Rights to the US Constitution. All of this didn’t stop the tortures however, and so the Psycho punishers began to use the horrific practice of electroshock therapy, or giving voltage shocks to the brains of rebellious mental patients.

They also went on the offensive in the corporate sphere, helping to create the Biotech monolith in legally dealing the deadly, psychoactive drugs, such as Prozac, Lithium and Thorazine, which opened a flood gate of profits for both the Biotech companies and the Psycho practitioners. This practice also opened the floodgates to serial killers and mass shooters, which have become part of the diseased American cultural dynamic.

A few Psycho monsters had earlier collaborated with the US Government of Sociopaths in some very evil behavioral experiments during the 1940s and 50s. There was Project 4.1, which studied radiation effects on Marshall Island natives who had been victims of the US government’s use of nuclear testing nearby, and the Tuskegee Study, where US government doctor-thugs and psycho quacks injected syphilis into African-American men in the South in order to study the mental effects of the disease. And there was the most famous of all, Project MK-ULTRA, where the CIA and psycho experts heavily dosed US military personnel, patients in mental hospitals, prisoners and prostitutes, with LSD, in order to find a ‘truth serum.’ Some of those unsuspecting participants were never the same people again.

During the Satanic sacrifice-Child molestation scare of the 1980s in the United States, Psycho hacks were found in the corporate media defending the discredited use of ‘repressed testimonies’ in children, something not seen since the European witch trials of the 1640s.

Throughout this same decade of the 1980s, the Psychology Mafia also instituted a terrible scam on rebellious teenagers from white, middle class backgrounds. With the collusion of disreputable Insurance companies, both parents and psychologists could involuntarily commit rebellious adolescents into mental hospitals or special homes that tried to reform the defiant young people. The parents paid the Insurance companies, while the Insurance companies, mental clinics and Psycho gangs reaped the profits.

These same mental centers often recruited local thugs and weirdos to control the kids, while a few of those brutes even got away with legal murder through using restraints and tortures on the kids. This crime syndicate especially flourished in the state of Florida. The evil connivance of Psychobabble, the State and the Insurance Mafia, destroyed thousands of American families due to neurotic parents duped into imprisoning their own children.

Psychologists have collaborated with the US military through its ‘Psychological Operations,’ while sanctioning the use of torture and murder during its recent genocides in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Finally, I remember watching many of the Psychology graduate students when I was a doctoral student in history. Unfortunately, the art of history shared the same building complex as that quack ‘social science.’ Those Psychology doctoral students were often bizarre and anal, and a few of them were actual wing nuts. Were these the experts that were going to help the mentally afflicted? Psychology has even tried to capture of the art of history with its very own version of psychohistory!

Psychology-Psychobabble has been an integral state ideology through its arts of social control. There is nothing scientific about it. The Modern State and all tyrannical institutions, such as schools, cops and the military, adore it, while the Psycho leaders always eye newer and weaker victims to liquidate and murder.

We Anarchists know the truth about this disguised evil covered in the cloak of science and ‘normalcy.’ We must also fight their leaders as we fight the State, the cops, the rich elites, the powerful and the corporations. Ultimately, we should even refrain from using their terms and vocabulary, such as ‘psychopath, neurotic and schizo,’ which have become part of our common English vocabulary – and we should try to never see, speak with, or pay for a visit to one of those despicable fakes. Our Anarcho-spirit of liberty would engender a ‘mental illness’ and a forced imprisonment in one of their dungeons.

The Psychobabble Quack Cult is now the State’s and the Elite’s most trusted co-conspirator.

Justice signifies a somewhat loaded, strange word.

Nowadays, the state thugs in the Amerikan Empire who scream the loudest about justice have also been its worst abusers against US citizens. Police and prosecutors normally put the word justice on their buildings, cars, uniforms, and within bizarre emblems that hang on their prison walls. The British writer George Orwell predicted this deranged behavior in his great book, 1984, (published in 1948), about the destruction of language, such as the term, peace, which really meant unending war and endless enemies.

The Amerikan Empire currently labels insecurity and fear mongering as security. High unemployment, lack of any social safety net for most Americans, and higher trading volume on the Stock Market, possess the label of economic recovery. The list of official lies, state corruption and elite criminality fills volumes from the pages of world history.

One peculiar ideology has helped twist human languages and meaning destruction during its long reigns of terror and error – and it still works wonders to this very day. This ideology birthed out of a group of west Asian people who called themselves Jews during the sixth century BCE. They were one of the captive nations under the Persian-Medean Empire at that time.

The Jewish elites had performed a miracle of language. They had codified diverse religious texts, taking stories from the Zoroastrian Avesta, picking laws and customs from the ancient Babylonian city states and the Assyrian Empire, and adding some religious mystical concepts from various, regional religious rites, such as the Carthaginians, Palestinians and Egyptians. They claimed to discover a righteous and brutal God in continual war against a despicable world order under the darkness of idolatry.

Those Jewish intellectuals transformed their holy book, called ‘Tanakh,’ into an often contradictory and bizarre hodgepodge of minute, regulatory, religious laws, such as Torah and Mitzvot, all of which was under a blood lineage priest class.

Their holy cannon also included a second section of prophetic dirges related to retribution and vengeance, or end times prophecies, such as Daniel, and the other Prophetic Books or Nevi’im. The third section regarded religious chants, psalms and miscellaneous religious axioms, such as Proverbs and Wisdom, or Ketuvim. In relation to the Torah, or the Five Books of Moses, were ancient Levant lore and legends, Joshua and Judges, and political-historical rival narrations, Kings and Chronicles.

The Jewish priests were the first people in human history to create a religious nation, with its temple center in Jerusalem, from a complete compendium of books, now called the Old Testament. In past history, it was the other way around. Those priests were quite successful in their religious-nation construction. But their religion of intolerance, authoritarianism and vengeance could only succeed, if they maintained an autonomous religious empire within a land mass continent, which also held much stronger pagan idolatrous empires.

After the full dedication of the rebuilt Second Temple, about a hundred and fifty years later from the Return of Exile, they soon had problems with the Seleucid Greeks. Then came the Romans, which also led to some jurisdiction issues. The Romans would eventually destroy the Temple and the city of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Those Romans had mistakenly thought that they had done finally away with the annoying nucleus of judeo-monotheists.

We now know that the monotheists had their final laughs inside their own secret chambers. Judeo-Christianity eventually took over the Roman Empire by the sixth century A.D. Around a thousand years later, monotheism had fulfilled its long journey of control, but it was still not finished.

During the previous, fifth century A.D., the Christians had been in full battle mode, which was their modus operandi from the beginning. Their religious structure of bishops, priests and deacons actually resembled the efficient structure of the Roman army. The Christians revived the old Jewish prophetic tradition through the influence of mad preaching monks of the desert and of the cities. Like the Jewish priests of ancient times, the Christians began to write extensively against pagan intellectuals, philosophers and even against their old Jewish forebears. Bishop Saint Augustine of Hippo represented one of those most effective polemicists.

Using the same methods centuries earlier, the Christians, specifically Saint Jerome, had finally codified their own holy compendium of books, now called the New Testament. They even took the Old Testament as their own and transcended everything into the Holy Bible, or the Holy Book. All the other circulating Gospels, Early Church histories, Epistle letters, and prophetic texts, mostly related to the Gnostics, entered the dustbin of rejected accounts.

This massive organizational and militant project was only in its beginning stages however. The Christian movement moved into the full public sphere of spiritual and military agitation, while conducting religious rallies of revenge against their pagan enemies and diverse idolaters, such as the Neo-Platonists, Jews that refused the Christ, Mithraites, followers of the Goddess Isis, or anybody that simply stayed loyal to the Greco-Roman, Celt or Germanic religious traditions. The Christians especially proved virulent against their religious rivals, called ‘heretics and schismatics,’ such as the Manichaeans, Gnostics, Monophysites, Donatists and Arians.

On a hot day in March, 415 A.D., the Christians ordered the pagan woman philosopher, Hypatia, burned alive in the main square of Alexandria. The Christians would continue their mass murder of religious enemies for centuries to come. The authoritarian and Zoroastrian, Neo-Persian empire at that time, had suddenly found itself the lone defender of religious toleration!

Within this historical period, Christian mobs led by the mad monks and bishops soon burned the great libraries of Antioch and Alexandria to the ground. Why did the Christians support the burning of libraries? The thousands of rolled scroll books stored in those centers represented the most serious threats to the power of Christianity.

Christianity’s ideological power resided, and still resides, through its own narrow definitions of the most basic terminology within human civilization. Christianity has had its own restricted definitions for the most basic of words, such as belief, justice, good, evil, grace, understanding, truth, peace, hope, compassion, virtue, life, death, light, darkness, rebirth, suffering, pain, joy and freedom. Christianity, like other religious movements on the Earth, had even taken some of its lore and legends from rival religious movements, such as the ancient legends of the Buddha.

Christianity representing the only true faith has always demanded a strict adherence to literate dogma. Although it claimed its powers through faith, Christianity has always maintained some legalistic standards. It had to do this if it wanted to survive. Christianity demands total subservience to its doctrines. There are no alternative routes to salvation.

No other religious ideology in world history developed Crusade armies of religious fanatics to murder their religious enemies full-scale, including all women and children, like they did during the sack of Jerusalem July 15, 1099. Likewise, no other religious organization developed military orders, such as the Teutonic Knights in the Baltic region or the Knights of Santiago in northern Spain, to publicly hunt and murder pagans or apostates, as both groups were active during the 15th century. No other religious ideology in world history developed religious orders, such as the Franciscans and Dominicans to publicly fight heresy, institute anti-idolatry crusades, and set up mission stations that imprisoned the savages of ‘no religion,’ which they did to the California natives during the late 1700s.

Christianity is the only world religion that constructed an efficient, legal machine to destroy and murder heretics, or any other free thinkers, contrary to the doctrines of the official faith. The institutional name was the Inquisition, which actually lasted for six hundred years, 1230-1830 A.D.

Christianity is the only religion that has sent out to the world its innumerable missionaries, or really culture destroyers, or even more so, the first non-governmental agency subversives, which enabled the larger and sinister European empires to control vast amounts of lands in the Americas, Pacific, Africa and in Asia from the 1500s until today.

The cult of Judeo-Christianity has fomented multiple wars of conquest to destroy its endless enemies across the globe, like it did in Spain during the 1930s, while it has instituted internal wars of extermination, which they did against women, labeled witches during the 16th and 17th centuries. It even forced young girls to live the rest of their lives imprisoned in convents during that same period. Finally, the churches have always instigated violence against the Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jewish ghettos that lived under their domains.

Christian monotheism represents the most extreme ideology that has repressed and mercilessly persecuted freedom fighters who dared to practice or defend the basic love-making instincts of humanity, whether auto-eroticism, homo-eroticism or any other act of eroticism outside of marriage. Behind almost every modern reactionary political movement, or movement against personal freedom, or any cult demanding some type of censorship, even bans or control of art, there exist activist-fanatics, often found in various extremist sects, while feeding within the multiple cocoons of Christianity.

Due to Judeo-Christianity’s powers and successes in fomenting wars, continually sending out missionaries and demanding the sacrifices of millions of souls, other world religions have tried to become just as militant, such as Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and Hinduism.

Yet no other world religion or secular ideology can compete with the power of Christianity. This religious ideology now has the most adherents in the world. Christianity’s historical methods have explained clearly the reasons for such success.

The real agenda of Christianity has been extremism, the outrageous and imaginative creations of monsters and evil representations, continual and militant warfare, the cruelest methods of torture and violence, deep persecution-paranoia complexes, obsessions with the control of others, the ceaseless murdering of enemies, and it has been one of cultural foundations for modern Fascism.

The true hero of the passion of Christ, was not the whipped god-man hanging on the cross, but the traitor-snitch, Judas, who allowed the scriptures their ultimate fulfillment. He then repented of his sin and later hung himself all alone on that dark hill. His Passion was the Gospel Truth.

The true spiritual god of Christianity was not the mystical spirit of the Christ, but Satan, the God and Prince of this World, using whatever means necessary to rule over the souls of humanity. The Glory of Christian Civilization was the Italian Renaissance, and its Bible was Machiavelli’s, The Prince.

How did a religious ideology masking such hidden evil take over so many nations and empires across world history? Like Constantine, the roman general usurper turned emperor, the criminal state easily spotted Christianity’s power through its militant and vicious religious practices. The state loves war, and any religious ideology that embraces it tends to work fine within the power arrangement. Christianity has often molded itself to the whims of pliant states. For example, Christianity fully supported and encouraged genocidal African slavery in the Americas, and its corresponding ideological lie, the heinous lie of racialism.

But with Christianity’s heinous history, it has also breathed a double-edged sword against power. The Christian religion has also stabbed mortal wounds into crooked state apparatuses when they have least expected it.

Anarcho-historians ought to remember that Christianity was the first revolutionary organization in world civilization. The elites and the state both know this truth, and this often explains their ambivalence and secret fear of Christianity’s militant powers. Christianity can become the greatest defender of the state criminals – and yet, it can always turn completely around – and transform itself into the state authorities’ most pressing internal enemy.

World history supports this thesis. The first uncompromising abolitionists in the British West Indian colonies during the nineteenth-century were Baptist preachers. During the English Civil War of the seventeenth-century, the most radical revolutionaries were the Christian Diggers and Levellers. Frances’ most resolute and intellectual defenders of the Nation during the seventeenth-century, versus the degenerate Monarchy of Louis XIV and his palatial paradise of Versailles, were the religious movements of the Calvinists and Jansenists. The strongest political opposition against the medieval English tyrant, King Henry II, had the face of Beckett, the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Catholic monarchs united in unison to destroy the Jesuit Order during the eighteenth-century. They knew that the Jesuits possessed more popular admiration fro their subjects than for the sacred monarchies.

Christianity has also spawned the great activist work of the Quakers, the revolutionaries of John Brown’s raiders against the Slavocracy in the US during the 1850s, the civil-rights agitations of Martin Luther King and other the ministers marching across the US against official segregation in the 1950s, the Northern Irish Catholics marches in the 1960s, which led to the armed campaign of the IRA. During the Franco Fascist regime in Spain, Basque activists organized themselves into a nationalist club, while they studied at a Jesuit seminary in northern Spain. This proto-nationalist movement eventually transformed into the armed struggle of ETA. Even the mass murdering Communist dictator, Josef Stalin, began his higher studies in an Orthodox Christian seminary.

The US government had to finance and train hundreds of state murderers from Latin Americans in order to murder their fellow citizens, all in order to combat Liberation Theology from the 1960s to the 1990s. This essay cannot even do justice to the number of historical times that Christianity has successfully turned on its old state supports, and then destroyed those same state and elite collaborators.

The historical lesson for us Anarchists is simple. The religious ideology of the Judeo-Christian Monotheist Cult has been a perfect representation of human absurdity lurking within our evil world.

It has more often supported reaction and mass murder, yet some of the most effective revolutionaries have burst forth from its roots, while such political activists have successfully undermined the legitimacy of the state.

Unlike our Marxist sect and Leftist-reformist mortal enemies, we Anarchists must not forsake nor reject the work of these Christianity inspired revolutionaries. Their intensity of revolutionary work knows no bounds. The Christian in revolt against both the State and the rich Elites often works alone, outside of the official, institutional churches. We don’t have to join their religious confessions, but we can encourage each other through our constant struggles against the economic elites and the criminal state.

The historical period was the 1550s in both Europe and in the Americas. European colonization and warfare had existed within two full continents on the globe, (Europe and the Americas), and Europe’s disease ridden, stench-filled warriors were moving well into African and Asian territories. These madmen from this small continent in the north knew that they were on to something greater than themselves. Somehow, God or the Cosmos itself was involved.

However, the supremacy of the Roman Catholic Church had lost its power in most of northern Europe, the exceptions surviving with Ireland in the west, and the Polish-Lithuanian Empire in the east. The Protestant Reformation was successful. The noxious dream of a great empire of western Christendom was over. The Roman Catholic Papacy had earlier rejoiced in the Turkish sack of Constantinople, renamed Istanbul, and so the Greek Orthodox Church, which still claimed the papal supremacy of Rome, was scattered in the east. Only the Czar of Russia claimed some authority over the defense of Orthodoxy. But he was in the eastern European frontier, and the Mongol Muslim Khanates still had their power bases in central Asia counterbalancing Russia. Out of this geo-political stalemate, which still survives somewhat today, a religious-ideological leader emerged.

There were many prophets and self-proclaimed leaders in those days, (like in our days), but one ideological movement changed world history – and even without military conquests. The religious ideologue was a Basque soldier turned religious mystic, Iñigo de Loyola, and his new religious order, the Jesuits, or the Society of Jesus. This religious order in defense of the Roman Catholic Church was no ordinary order of monks, like the Benedictines or the Carmelites, nor was it simply a preaching order, such as the Franciscans and the Dominicans. These warriors of the Lord obeyed Paul’s principles in his second letter to Timothy, to both live and die as good soldiers in Christ. So, they did everything for the greater glory of God.

They became the confessors to Catholic monarchs, advisers to Catholic princes, opened numerous schools and taught the sons of elites. They occupied the most prestigious posts of scholarship in Catholic universities, wrote endless theology pamphlets, books, histories, poetry compendiums, philosophical treatises, and scientific theses. They directed new forms of painting, sculpture, architecture, theater, music and ritual performance, which history refers to as the Baroque. They even ventured to the extreme parts of the Earth as missionaries to convert the heathens and heretics.

By the turn of the century, the 1600s, they transformed the Roman Catholic Church, which history refers to as the Tridentine Church. Vatican II would officially change this Tridentine Church in the 1960s. They also changed the face of the world. Their doctrines, such as the Good Death practice, and intensive church building, laid the Order’s foundations in most of the capitals of Europe, (the exceptions being the Protestant ones, such as London), and within their colonies, such as Bahia, Brazil, Lima, Peru, Mexico City, Goa, India, Congo, Africa, and Macao, China. Their missions in the interior of Paraguay with the Guarani nation created a successful Christian community of Herbal Matte, or Yerba Mate, commerce, and armed self-defense against Portuguese, mixed race slave raiders, called Paulistas based in the small coastal city of Sao Paolo. The 1600s or seventeenth-century was their century.

By the 1700s, the eighteenth-century, these same staunch Catholic monarchs began to hate them. They were jealous of their power, and conspiracy theories emerged. How did this religious order become so successful, so powerful and so respected, and even their Protestant enemies admired them? Many believed that the Jesuits simply stole and manipulated their willing dupes, wealthy ones mostly, into handing over their loot. Pope Clement XIV suppressed the order in the late eighteenth-century due to pressures from the courts of Catholic monarchs. After the Napoleonic Wars in Europe, around 1815, the Pope lifted the suppression.

The real reason for the ‘power of the Jesuits’ was their practice of the Discernment of Spirits, or more honestly, the Discernment of Ideologies. Loyola advocated this practice incessantly. A good Jesuit had to read enormously and devour the written works of humanity, and even the texts of enemies in order to debate them and counter their propaganda. This Jesuit practice possessed the name of Propaganda Fide, or Propaganda in defense of the Faith. This practice works and it still works. Think on the Anarchist Propaganda of the Word and of the Deed.

Those Christian missionaries were quite hateful and intolerant, but at least they put their words into practice, and most importantly, they were prepared for any contingency because they knew the ideologies of the world during the 1600s: Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Pietism, Puritanism, Mystical Illuminism, Jansenism, Anabaptist-Quakerism, Calvinism, Lutheranism, Manichaeism, Sufism and even Atheism.

Nowadays, there are thousands of more ideologies, whether political, intellectual, religious or philosophical, across the globe. They all share a desire for power and the violent use of power over others. As Anarchists, they are our enemies and we fight them. But first, and like the Jesuits of old, we must also read about them. We do not have to read the entirety of their badly written books, but we can see their emphases, analyze their key words and points that they harp on, and we can possess an overall view of their conniving tactics. Some examples of the more dangerous ideologies of today are American Exceptionalism, Zionism, Communitarianism, Psychobabble, the End of History, Postmodernism, Communalism, Feminist-Puritanism, Christian Evangelical Dominionism, Media Objectivism and Global Neoliberalism.

But we are living in times that are more dangerous because the above nefarious ideologies often disguise their sinister and violent ideals through ‘anti-system’ tactics. Even well read Anarchists have fallen into their traps. We forget that the European Fascist movements of the twenties and thirties started on the streets. Both Mussolini and Hitler were ‘anti-establishment’ figures. Even the Zionists were revolutionary terrorists at one time in their history. As Anarchists, we must remain careful in supporting the first protests, demonstrations, riots, rebellions and revolutions that we watch against a particular State. Some good examples are the actual ‘rebellions’ against regimes in west Asia and in northern Africa.

Is the current rebellion in Turkey, which actually started last May Day, a true spirit of Anarchist rebellion against a corrupt state? May Day in Turkey often has more representation from Communist groups and Kurdish separatists than Turkish Anarchists. The current regime is corrupt like all states, but some of those courageous ‘street revolutionaries’ are also Kemalists, meaning that they support a Fascist platform for Turkish political-cultural supremacy in both the Balkans and in west Asia. Nazi Germany also organized Turkic-Albanian-Bosnian SS divisions during WWII. Also, when disguised fronts for Anglo-American Imperialism and Genocide, such as Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch, condemn the ‘despotic regime’ under duress, then this should make the Anarchist think again about defending all of the street rebels.

We can add the racist murderers and revolutionaries in Libya supported by the US, Britain and France, or the Wahhabi-Salafist religious extremists and murderers of Christians and Shiites, supported by the US, Britain, France, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in Syria. These fighters are in rebellion against a corrupt, dictatorial State, yet whose side are those fighters truly on? As Anarchists, we ought to look upon our sick and evil world the same way our state enemies look at it, and the same way the Jesuit Order looked upon it during the 1600s.

The Discernment of Ideologies then comes into full practice. We see the corporate media announce the street rebellion on ‘the news,’ and soon, the Leftist alternative media plays with the campaign. Yet, we also know that the Leftists are often the willing idiots of the state institutions. They want reforms; Anarchists, on the other hand, want true revolutionary change. The Anarchist has to make a choice: join the revolutionary practice or sit and wait. If we join, we might have to make temporary alliances with our mortal enemies, the Communist gangs, (like in Spain 1936), support the revolt in propaganda writing, (such as Indymedia), or we can act separately against a few open targets of power through hit and run, partisan-guerrilla tactics.

I would choose the latter. In world history, no matter who wins the recall, the resignation or the ‘reelection,’ the regular people always lose. Read between the media lines first, and then decide. Discern the different ideologies on the street first, and then act with force, or disengage for a later date. Once the Anarchist masters the Discernment of Ideologies, he or she becomes greatly more powerful. No state system or self-proclaimed leader can control such a revolutionary. The Jesuits always had the institutional support of the papacy throughout their reign of power. The Anarchist rather, stands alone, or works within small cells, ready with his or her weapon of choice.
