There exist certain unmistakable symbols and ideas, which define a political movement or an ideology.

For Communism, it is the hammer and sickle over the bright red flag, the labor gulag and Stalin’s execution lists. For Fascism, it is the strutting dictator stapled with phony medals, goose stepping SS soldiers, the swastika and the death camps, experts in the art of murder. For Liberalism, it is the grey institutional, corporate-bank building filled with bureaucratic drones, the local white stone courthouse, the police station, jail-prison with bars, the office of the local sheriff, and the brown brick, state school, with yellow school buses added for a little touch of class.

But what exists for Anarchy? We have the classic A with the circle around it. We have the long N shaped symbol with an arrow moving upward and a circle around that. And we have a black flag with some red in it – with part of the flag having a star, or even a fist, or whatever. There is also the Anarchist Black Cross, a type of Greek Cross or a Medical Cross, which usually has a clenched fist on the top of the vertical bar. We can also add a punk looking individual to the mix, and some Anarchists have even appropriated the classic black and white pirate flag with the skull and crossed bones. But there is an idea that maintains its constancy within all Anarchy practices: the Class War.

How many memories and bad experiences do we continue to hold from all of our crap jobs history – or where we still trudge and grudge our lives away?

All of my diverse jobs in my personal life were bad ones, including the one that I held for the most labor time of my life: as a lowly paid, graduate teaching assistant at some western land-grant American university. My second longest work stretch was my time surviving in the US Military. I was lucky to not get kicked out of that one.

My employment history mostly shows a shattered list of short work stints, about a few months at the most, and in the end, the owner bastards often fired me. I am damn proud of this spotted work record too. I have openly lived my life as a true warrior inside of the Class War. I have never traded nor soiled my honor, nor my dignity, to a boss-manager parasite.

Believe it or not, I’ve actually worked hard – if the job interested me. I have always arrived on time to work, and while inside of the wage struggle, I got straight into the labor intensity. I have never liked just sitting or standing around, and I always tried to find some initiative or creativity on my own in order to learn more things. But in the end, we all live under the loaded shotgun of the Class Struggle. The loaded shotgun has always aimed at us – the regular workers, the drinking class, the working class.

The commandeering class parasites don’t see it that way however. They want to avoid the most work as possible in order to collect a higher salary with lots of benefits – the worker ants damned! Those losers constantly delegate the hated work jobs, often cleaning or organizing tasks, onto the lower worker peons. Those hacks also have the ear of the owners. And the owners only want one thing – profits!

This is the Class Struggle: the owner wants more work out of the wage slaves, while also hoping to cut down the employee wages in order to increase profit margins; meanwhile, the workers want to conserve their energy for life outside of work, while hoping for a measly pay raise – maybe some time in the distant future.

Since its ugly surfacing some hundreds of years ago, Capitalism has waged a most ruthless war or struggle against the lives of most humans. Whether we like it or not, we all must survive in the Class Struggle, and fight until the bitter end – inside of the Class War.

The owners holding the capital have waged a relentless war against us. Our wage slave jobs slowly rot out our bodies, and eventually clog our vital energies, and so we must fight back. We battle the owners every day on the job, or we fight back as consumers against their crap products, or we even expose the owners’ dishonest practices through writing scathing reviews on the Internet. There are many more ways to struggle.

There is also sabotage. Sabotage does not just imply purposely breaking the machines; although, in extreme situations, this works too. It can also mean following every single rule in the business in order to slow down production or any system of overwork. It can even mean informing the state authorities about the owner’s negligence of the laws. Yes, we can use the divide and conquer method against our foes, since they have continually used similar methods against us.

Another sabotage tactic is giving out the product for free to customers in order to show our appreciation for choosing the business! This has also worked splendidly in the past. The owner crooks can lambast all they want about stealing, but this is just giving the customer a bit more appreciation. Customer service is king – and especially under Global Monopoly Capitalism that truly rules our evil world.

Capitalism steals more than our wages. The system robs us through its flimsy tax scams, which we lower orders can never use, such as unemployment and social security money. In the United States, most employers reject the unemployment claims of fired workers most of the time – and the corrupt judges generally rubber stamp the boss’ dirty deeds. We can only receive some federal, state and city back taxes, if we make less than the poverty wage. Anyway, the poverty wage is so low that it exists as a worthless system for any wage earner.

The thugs in the US federal government are getting a little nervous however. They recently started an Earned Income Credit scam that allows the peons to keep a little crumbs from the ‘taxed money.’ Nice try. Those band aids never help.

Capitalism also robs the lowly paid wage workers grievously through stealing their surplus labor. Every day that we arrive to work and labor hard, we actually create a surplus product ready for sale. Our unpaid surplus labor creates a surplus of value, or wealth, for the owners. Yet, we only receive a low wage that barely pays for our dismal lives of bill paying, taxation and basic cost of living, such as food, housing and clothes.

Nowadays, many wage slaves have to work two or three jobs in order to live in an sub-standard apartment. Landlords have also become desperate within this capitalist shell game, and in many small cities and towns, ‘with jobs,’ they have lifted the prices for basic living into the American megalopolis price zones of New York and San Francisco.

Many Amerikan landlords have transformed themselves into property pimps who push anyone who can’t pay their exorbitant rents into the poorer or rural suburbs, such as the young, lumpen poor and minorities.  The displaced poor then have to flush their money into urban scam ‘public transportation,’ which costs more than actually driving a car around the city. Other wage slaves living in the more rural parts will have to dig deeper in their pockets for paying gas costs, state mandated taxes, state mandated insurance and auto part-repair bills. And these people still have to buy decent food, wear cool clothes – and possibly enjoy their scant leisure time.

The owners have successfully colonized and scammed our leisure activities. Most of our ‘fun activities’ cost something: bars, restaurants, cafes, concerts, festivals, amusement parks, outdoor sports, parties, lotteries-casino gambling, etc. We have to throw our money away to another group of owners in the ‘service industry,’ and whose members often represent the more noxious elements of the small business owner class. Going out and enjoying our lives, during ‘our time off,’ is not so cheap anymore.

We must structure our crowded lives around our ‘jobs.’ which slowly degenerate our meager existence. The boss-owner group can take off whenever he or she wants, and do whatever he or she wants during work hours: a golf game, a two-hour lunch, a visit to family, personal shopping, or even just a light nap or refreshing break. We continue working, and worst of all, the job steals away our precious personal time – and sadly, our fleeting youth. The owners makes the work-life schedules, not us.

The owner-bosses like to take multiple week vacations throughout the work year. Few wage slaves get the old, two-week paid vacation from the distant past. If you ask for it, it tells the boss that you want fewer hours – and he or she will soon terminate your employment.

Most wage work doesn’t even have work contracts anymore. The owner can fire the employees at will, and they often do just that – for whatever reasons. There are so many other wage slaves, and especially young ones, banging on the doors. The owner can just go down the list and call up the most pliable worker.

In some service professions in the US, such as restaurants-bars, distributing centers, cleaning services and construction-repair work, the bosses have a massive pool of illegal immigrant workers to exploit. Other businesses can use a pool of legal, foreign visa students-workers. The owners inside the education, nursing and software industries exploit this privilege all the time. I have yet to see the federal, state or local governments punish those dishonest owner crooks who prefer to hire non-Americans. If you can hire a foreigner to do the same job, worker harder, and for less pay – than why not?

Ultimately, more and more owners refuse to pay the full amount of salary when they fire employees, or when the employees quit. Fighting for the rest of the pay is simply not worth it, since the legal system always backs up the owner class, and the proof of outright theft is on the employee. How many employees have the time or energy to fight back? If the wage slave does not have any family money to help him or her, then he or she had better find another crushing, soul killing job – or he or she will then join the ranks of the homeless ‘bums,’ or drifters.

The worst part of the story is still not over. As this Global Monopoly Capitalist system becomes more outrageous and more brutal, so there emerges a smaller pool of available jobs. The only jobs left will be those high paying administrator-commandeering manager-executive class jobs. Those people do no useful work whatsoever, except attend meetings and pass e-mails. Those jobs are for the people who have attended highly rated universities and have some wealthy family contacts. This leaves the rest of us thrown into the Capitalist Maelstrom.

The lucky ones will have some important manual skill where they can find work as ‘independent contractors’: electricians, builders, plumbers, welders, or simply fix-it-all, jack of all trades, people.

For the rest of us, losers, the future enters a biting darkness. I include myself in this group, since PhD bums in history were stupid enough to believe that there were jobs for intellectually smart-street wise dummies. In the past there were job prospects, but the sociopaths that hold power in the Amerikan Empire don’t care anymore. Why should they? Most PhD recipients have transformed themselves into pathetic cowards. How can any PhD with any sense of honor and dignity work as an adjunk, part-time teacher for less pay that any McJob dweeb?

What can we do to forestall such a monstrous future waiting for us?

We must embrace the Class War, since the elites, the top owner class within the boards of directorships of the major corporations and banks, including their top political class minions, have already declared war against us – from the beginning of human history. Before it was the master-slave relationship, now it is the owner-wage slave relationship.

We have only two choices ahead. First, We could bow our heads and keep looking for different work situations, and if we have family money to help us out, then we can survive with odd jobs.

The other option is that we can reject work altogether and just become traveling bums or drifters – like the hobos of the Great Depression. Yes, I mean drop out of the work force, travel around to different parts of the country, and find the odd job for some desperate cash.

Yet even this old ‘job search’ system is dying. Most of the ugliest, slave-like jobs either require a background check of a few pages, inclusive of a drug test, or they are only reserved for the illegal immigrant slaves who will desperately do any job, including septic cleaning and slaughterhouse killing.

The Class War continues: always and forever!

The New Testament, or the Holy Book of the Christian Religion, contains an interesting story. The leader of the Nazarenes, Jesus Christ, during his Sermon on the Mount, warns his disciples about the ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing.’ Apparently, even those days, there were abundant ‘self-proclaimed leaders’ among the brotherhood of believers. That leader, the Christ, cautioned his disciples that they must remain wary of the dangers in the evil world, (the Roman Empire), as they went out and proclaimed the power of the Christ. He later admonishes them again during his last days in Jerusalem, before his future Passion and Death, about the many false prophets and deceivers that would try to lure them away from the Truth.

It is quite ironic that Christianity, and which has represented the most powerful, sophisticated and extremist of the monotheist religious ideologies, has always maintained a humongous list of such wolves in sheep’s clothing. The historical record of its own gross hypocrites, pathological liars, hierarchical leaders, ego maniacs, madmen cultists, lunatic sects, arch-criminals, rapists and murderers, has been quite outstanding. No other world religion in human history has developed nor cultivated such a torrid and perverted catalogue of monsters and deceivers. Still to this actual day, spiritual degenerates across the globe have parasited off the unwary, naive and desperate believers.

We should not just point the finger at the spiritual ones in regards to the parasite-leaders and hucksters that have abused their faithful followers. We Anarchists have also fallen under the disease ridden gazes of cults of personalities, bogus leaders, radical salesmen, super revolutionaries, pseudo-authentic cool rebels – and even egotistical fanatics. Again, we have human history that has exposed such sordid truths.

There was the infamous story of the Russian revolutionist, Sergei Nechayev. Sergei actually came from a working class Russian background, unlike many other fellow revolutionaries, such as the Anarchist, Pyotr Kropotkin, who was born upper class. Sergei first worked with the Anarchist, Mikhail Bakunin. They collaborated together on writing revolutionary pamphlets, and then in the 1870s, Sergei branched out to form his own political cult, ‘The People’s Retribution,’ or ‘The Society of the Axe.’ Their holy book was his previously written pamphlet, ‘The Catechism of a Revolutionary.’

Like most cult leaders or cults of personalities, Nechayev was a sloppy reader of political and philosophical texts. He either didn’t have the time, or more than likely, was simply too lazy to read as a historian, meaning reading most of the author’s general works, and then interpreting between the text lines for the overall historical contexts.

Sergei read parts of Machiavelli’s The Prince, and St. Ignatius Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises, and then decided to plagiarize from them for his holy book, ‘The Catechism.’ Most spiritual and political ‘leaders’ have used identical methods, and will continue to use similar pilfering – without footnotes of course.

This super Russian revolutionist transformed into an ego maniac who controlled ‘his group’ through deceit, divide and conquer techniques, and psycho-manipulation. While the arch hypocrite fulminated against the evil, despotic Czar Emperors of Russia, this madman was constructing a little monstrous state of about 50 followers. When one of ‘his followers’ questioned his leadership, he formed a secretive group to murder him, which the leader exactly performed. A hundred years earlier, before there was Jim Jones and his Poison Acid-Kool Aid mass suicide at the People’s Temple in the jungles of Guyana, there was this maniac.

Thankfully, Bakunin alerted the other Anarchist revolutionaries of Europe about the danger of Nechayev, and that other radicals had to watch out for such a crooked individual.

Eventually, the Russian authorities captured the deceiver and sent him to die in a Czarist prison. Some years later, the Third Section Intelligence Service tried to recruit the lowlife as an informer and spy, but Nechayev’s madness had already diseased both his body and mind. The lunatic died wretchedly in his cell a few years later.

Unfortunately, the sinister influence of such a ‘revolutionary martyr,’ has led to other control freaks and political monsters in copying such nefarious methods. One such leader was the Russian Communist revolutionary-dictator, Vladimir Lenin, who formed his own death squad to imprison and murder his political enemies, called Cheka. After Lenin, there emerged the infamous Josef Stalin, who formed a more perfect union of the intelligence-death squads, later renamed NKVD. Such are the fruits from one prophetic so-called leader seeping out of the radical vanguard.

Anarchists have also fallen for the traps and snares of such master manipulators. During the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s, many Catalan Anarchists dived into the spell of the Anarchist leader-bank robber-outlaw-revolutionist, Buenaventura Durruti. Durruti was a great Anarchist leader, but he was not the only warrior to fight Fascists in battle. The regular fighting men of his military column performed great acts of valor too. As Anarchists we must always praise the common work and basic struggles of all honorable fighters. And as Anarchist historians, we fully reject the cult of all leaders, or the ‘great men of history’ trope. The human condition under civilization has always created its own history of everyday heroes. And this has always been the truth.

But within our own troubling, contemporary times, there are still self-proclaimed, ”radical’ leaders and political cultists that fight for our affections. They rant, hog the conversations, interrupt us, bully the weak, write unreadable and tiresome books and other useless pamphlets, and they even send their minions to our events and struggles. They do this – not to further the resistance – but instead, to recruit more slaves into their organization.

How can we spot the wolves in sheep’s clothing? Their literature and words always point at and mention one particular leader, one specific ego, one self-adulating buffoon who seems to have most of the answers for all the horrors found in our evil world.

How do we deal with them? We must reject them completely. The moment they begin their propaganda diarrhea, or ‘spiel,’ we can stop them verbally and admonish them to think for their own selves. A few might threaten violence against us, but reaching for our firearms ready for use will shut up the true believers quite quickly. Remember this too: a cult follower is also a coward.

We Anarchists are not cowards, nor are we slaves; we follow no leaders, no personalities, no cults, no sects, no ideologies and no states. We bow to no strange ‘gods,’ nor to any human rulers or leaders. We are free warriors fighting for our daily dignity and honor. This simple code maintains our freedom, while it shields us from the political cultist pests.

Latin America: Hangs the Ghost of the Colonial Casta

I remember arriving as a doctoral student researcher while visiting one of Latin America’s megalopolis capitals. This particular time it was Mexico City, or el DF, as they called it in Mexico. This gran metropolis also had a more notorious name, el ‘Monstruo,’ the Monster. It was, and definitely still is, a Monster, both in actual size and in population count.

Seeing the octopus urbanization from the plane, while landing onto the airport strip, was a shocking sight. The aerial vision portrayed brown-yellow vomit chunks from an ancient Aztec God. The whole mess represented a massive urban polis filled with hodgepodges of grey-black conglomerations, connected by various mini megalopolises of construction sites and twisting roads. The traffic never seemed to stop.

Squatters had previously built ramshackle houses of concrete cinder blocks and alloy metal roofs along the mountains and hills, and surrounding those harsh pits of humanity were a few ominous brown volcanoes in the far distance.

Only three hundred years ago, this city of 150,000 people had a massive blue lake around it. The city possessed as many canals as streets. Residents proudly called Mexico City the Venice of the Americas. But now, Lake Texcoco is almost completely dried up. Throughout the centuries, the city’s colonial ‘authorities’ murdered the surrounding lake beds and canals due to the incessant flooding during the rainy seasons. The dirty grey and black water floods still come in the late summer however. They will never leave.

Latin America’s melancholic past has included some horrifying stories and incidents. The long list comprises state sponsored genocides, impregnable state corruption, military-executioner honchos, killer narcos, paramilitary murderers on the prowl, murderous destruction of natural resources for easy gain, ‘vendepatrias,’ or politicians that sell out their people to the Amerikan Embassy, prison infernos, mass murders of ‘campesinos,’ or farmers.

Such historical accounts can never forget the institutional murders, or disappearances, against journalists and activists, with the terrible poverty, extremes of wealth between the mostly poor population and the few rich people. All across Latin America grows incessant misery, aggressive begging, common criminality, police state cruelty, and street riots with dead bodies lying around – with those infamous ‘golpes de estados,’ or coup d’états. Why has Latin America continually suffered from such diseases and terrible outbreaks? Even the revolutionary Simon Bolivar predicted such catastrophes for the Americas.

The reason for all of this daily terrorism and institutional violence has been due to three hundred years of Iberian colonialism. The worst forms of this colonialist violence moved in three stages: political-economic, legal, and racial. The most heinous actions of its colonial crimes represented its racial codes, or as they stated some three hundred years ago, ‘castas,’ or racial castes.

The Latin colonial systems, representing mostly the Spanish and the Portuguese, managed their ‘colonies’ as privileged economic districts for investment. They had maintained a massive slave worker-forced laborer system on export crop plantations, such as sugar. Slaves also worked inside linen factories, called ‘obrajes’ in Spanish, and in gold and silver mines.

During the colonial period, most native farmers did not fall into these slave systems – but other unfortunates did. This was especially true for many Africans, first kidnapped from their home continent, next brought over on cargo ships, later worked to death as slaves in the Americas.

The colonial powers taxed and heavily legislated against all of their subjects, whether Europeans, natives or African-Americans. These colonial codes had the names of the Laws of the Indies. The colonial authorities even legislated the style of clothes and jewelry wearing depending on social class status. Most colonial subjects ignored those laws, but the system had already set a bad legal precedent.

This violent colonial system tried to keep separated laws, dress codes, neighborhoods, religious confraternities, or brotherhoods, guilds and churches depending on social class and racial status. The Latin colonial authorities of the Americas had created the classical, racist Apartheid system. By the 1600s, the Spanish referred to it as, ‘mandamientos a las castas,’ or rules relegating the racial castes.

During the eighteenth-century, the 1700s, the only legal outlet for a casta person was to become ‘Latinized,’ speaking the language well, dressing well and having a good economic social position. The racial caste person could then receive an officially, royally stamped ‘certificate of whiteness.’

Three hundred years of this racial apartheid still infects the minds of millions of Latin Americans. It was not as bad as the actual US institutional racism-prison industrial complex against African-Americans; but like all forms of racialism, it was mentally and institutionally brutal nonetheless.

This particular colonial caste system created a terminal germ of self-hatred that still eats out the brains of many Latin American people, and especially the political-economic elites. Latin America can never achieve its long desired freedom and dignity as long as the bacillus parasites of self-hating ‘politicos,’ or politicians, gorges the insides of Latin America’s soul.

After spending some months living and researching in Mexico City, I began to notice daily and common annoyances concerning the adverts on the subway platforms, inside the metro cars, and on the billboards around the city. I also spotted similar issues on the ‘telenovelas,’ or Latin American soap operas, and on the stupid gossip and slapstick shows so ubiquitous to Latin American bad television.

Most of the presenters, actors, faces, images were of European looking people. It was impossible to find an indigenous face on any public program or advert. I found this especially strange inside particularly large national capitals, such as Mexico City and Lima. A majority of the people who live in such capitals are mestizo, a colonial caste denomination representing a mixture of an indigenous native and a European. Were there any actual mestizo faces on advertising and television?

I also noticed this problem in the cinema. It was still hard to find mestizo and indigenous faces on the screens. Visiting the many ‘boticas,’ or pharmacies in the cities, I perceived that one of the greatest scam businesses in the continent has represented the selling of skin lightening creams.

Dictator-murderers in Latin American history, such as Porfirio Diaz and Rafael Trujillo were regular users of such salves. Other Latin American corrupt bosses and dictators also seemed to have dipped into the magical Euro face ointments, such as Juan Manual Santos of Columbia and Vicente Fox of Mexico.

During the late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century, eugenics became the rage of European and North American political-economic elites. Latin America also had its eugenics supporters during the same period. Why do the southern cone countries of southern Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile have so many European looking citizens walking around its loud and dirty streets?

During the late nineteenth-century, the dictatorial governments of those countries had opened up ‘their lands’ to a massive European immigration scheme. They desperately wanted to whiten their countries from the shame of their indigenous and Afro-Latino communities. These ‘jefes,’ or state bosses, had hoped that a legion of Nordic Vikings and Germanic rune masters would settle ‘their continent’ and save the lazy, racially putrid Latin America from itself. Argentina received the bulk of this desired group.

Unfortunately for the Latino Euro-fakers, the majority of the immigrants were more from the Southern and Eastern European varieties, and there were also Arabs, Asians, and even Ashkenazi Jews that mixed into the newer white crowd. The Argentine generals would finish off some of the more dangerous elements of this mixed group during their genocide of the 1970s, called the Dirty War against Subversives.

Argentina, the whitest country in Latin America, (actually Uruguay and Chile together), has had its recent, ‘republican’ history replete with genocides. The corrupt kingpins in power first moved their racial genocide against the large Afro-Argentine community. At one time, they were about 30% of the population like Venezuela today. The Argentine Buenos Aires junta, which ran the ‘National Army,’ (under President Mitre), forced all Afro-Argentines to fight in the numerous wars of Argentina.

The most brutal war in Modern Latin American history was the War of the Triple Alliance in the middle part of the 1800s: Argentina, Imperial Brazil and Uruguay against Paraguay. Thousands of Afro-Argentinian men lost their lives for such a bogus war, and the general thugs simply buried the Afro-soldiers in mass graves located around central Buenos Aires. The historical grave sites don’t exist anymore.

The whitest countries of Latin American had almost exterminated the entire male population of the great Guarani-Mestizo Republic of Paraguay. Paraguay has still not recovered to this present day. This system of slow genocide continued well into the infamous War of the Desert in the latter part of the nineteenth-century.

The Afro-Argentine survivors would also die from recurrent outbreaks of cholera and yellow fever epidemics in their rat infested neighborhoods. The governments did nothing to help such poor people. The politicians felt good about the results. Now, only a few Afro-Argentines have survived, and their only cultural expressions live in the tango dance culture, and in Uruguayan Carnival.

The most heinous Argentinian genocide was the War of the Desert. General Julio Roca with a large Afro-Argentine and mestizo gaucho, or cowboy army, marched on the warpath to finally exterminate the recalcitrant barbarian ‘indios,’ or natives, in the Patagonia south, the Pampa central region, and the Gran Chaco north. In the south he tried to exterminate the great warrior nation of the Araucanians, or the Mapuches. The Mapuches have been continually fighting against colonialism and neocolonialism until this very day – mostly against the white Chilean crooks in Santiago.

Unfortunately, these state thugs had Winchester rifles, which worked marvelously in exterminating men, women and children. They successfully murdered tens of thousands of natives. There were also those European transplanted epidemics, which had already decimated the native nations. The actual killing figure is still unknown. General Roca had his name immortalized with pigeon shit statues around the country and his ugly mug on almost worthless bank notes.

As long as this sordid history retains the covers of pathetic lies and deadly omissions, then Latin America will continue to suffer the farce and absurdity of the bad life and the bad death. Argentina is not the only Latin American nation guilty of racialism and genocide. For example, Guatemala tried to do a similar racial liquidation program against the Mayan nation during the 1980s, further supported by the US government. Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela also tried their hands at such evil, racially incited, murderous practices.

Latin America will probably never be able to redeem its mind and soul from such an abusive history. But the true roots and holy souls of Latin America do not exist in London, Paris, Berlin or even in Miami, they continue to breathe inside the sacred earth, the medicinal plants, the powerful legends, the ancient gods, and those sacred native languages. Only in tortured Paraguay is the native language of Guarani one of its national tongues. And only a return to these sacrosanct cultures can ultimately transform the continent.
